Our History

Gayle-Anne Drury, psychotherapist and trainer has lived and worked in York for a number of years, but was born and raised in Zambia. She became interested in finding ways of working with individuals and communities living in poverty and struggling with thoughts and feelings of helplessness and hopelessness which would be enabling and supportive yet sustainable, promoting self-sufficiency.

In 2011 Gayle-Anne self-financed a research project in Zambia to explore her ideas and following the success of that has developed a three-year programme which has been delivered successfully at Tujatane Tongabezi Trust School in 2012 - 2014.

Baobab Training Seeds has been established to continue and expand on this foundational work, providing practical training in listening skills, understanding human emotion and interaction, understanding issues around corporal punishment and developing positive attitudes to behavioural difficulties.

By providing this training individuals are able to understand and tackle problems at home , work and in the community through greater reflective thinking, improved understanding, increased confidence and the ability to communicate effectively.

These projects will be financed solely by donations and the generosity of individuals and organisations.
